Waymo Accelerates Autonomous Dominance with $15B Funding Push
Waymo's $15 billion funding round WOULD catapult its valuation to $110 billion, marking a seismic shift in the autonomous vehicle sector. The Alphabet subsidiary now operates in 26 global markets, with paid robotaxi services already live across five major U.S. cities.
Current operations handle approximately 450,000 weekly rides, with 14 million trips completed in 2025 alone. This puts Waymo on pace to surpass 20 million total rides since its 2020 launch—a milestone that would cement its lead over competitors still struggling with regulatory approvals.
The capital infusion comes as CEO Sundar Pichai forecasts profitability by 2027. Previous investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Tiger Global demonstrate continued institutional confidence, following their participation in Waymo's $5.6 billion Series C last October.
